Mikko Mallikas – Alfons Åberg is an ordinary boy who lives with his dad in a suburb, somewhere in the world. He is playful and imaginative, but can also be angry, jealous, and afraid of ghosts. Created by Swedish author and illustrator Gunilla Bergström (1942–2021), the first book was published in 1972 and has since been followed by 26 beloved classics.
This autumn, a brand-new book, Hyvää joulua, Mikko Mallikas, will be released. Based on Gunilla Bergström’s original texts and sketches, the book has been completed by her son in close collaboration with her publisher, adding a new story to the timeless collection.

My name is Virpi Lehtinen, and my collection Blooming World is part of the exhibition. My paintings explore dreamlike encounters with nature, spirituality, and the interplay of light. I combine realism, fantasy, and symbolism to create worlds that leave room for the viewer’s own interpretation.
My works are born entirely from my imagination, inspired by everything from fairy tales and childhood trips to Lapland to song lyrics.
My father comes from the village of Nellim in Northern Lapland, and I have Inari Sámi roots. I believe this heritage is where much of the mysticism and atmosphere in my paintings originates.
